App not working

In Progress Pdufour 5 years ago

I just installed Justinmind 8.5 on a Mac with the OS Sierra 10.12.6 and the installation complete correctly. But when I try to open the application, it become Not responding... there is no error message, nothing happen at all. Does anyone have similar issue and how did you solved it? Do I have the correct system requirement for this version? Thanks!

It sounds like something got corrupted during installation. Can you try downloading Justinmind again from this link: justinmind.com/download and see if this issue still happens? If it does, please let me know.

I tried but it did the same, nothing happen when I open the app. A co-worker installed the app on the same OS as me and it worked for him... it seam that my computer is the problem!

Can you attach your log files so we can see why this is happening? You can find them by following this file path:

On Mac: [folder of the user]/justinmind/version/logs.log]

The log file isn't there. With the technical support here, we succeed to install the app on the Admin session, the app was working correctly and the justinmind folder was created in the user folder. So after we try again to install it again on my own session, but this time by giving me admin access, but it didn't work. Any ideas of what is causing the problem?

Are there any other logs in the folder? Can you attach a screenshot of that folder? It should look similarly to the attached screenshot.

There is none in my user (PDUFOUR), but there is one in master.

That should work. Can you attach the logs.log file shown in that screenshot?

Voilà!

Files: logs.log

Can you try right clicking on the Justinmind application, then click on show package contents? From there, open contents, then MacOS, and there is a folder called Justinmind.ini. Open that file in a text editor and then remove the first 4 lines of the text in that file.

Then try restarting Justinmind.

It's done. But the app remain Not responding when I try to open it. See screen capture, is that how the file should be?

Okay, open that .ini file again and replace the four lines you deleted with:

-configuration

/Users/pdufour/Justinmind/8.4.1/configuration

-data

/Users/pdufour/Justinmind/8.4.1

Unfortunately, it's not working!

Sorry, we typed 8.4.1 by mistake. You'll also need to remove the spaces in between each line. Paste it like this:

-configuration
/Users/pdufour/Justinmind/8.5.0/configuration
-data
/Users/pdufour/Justinmind/8.5.0

I corrected it, but it didn't work.

Okay, next step is to create a folder called Justinmind in your user account and then try launching Justinmind.

Hello Danielle, I created the folder Justinmind in my user account, but it is not working :(

The problem might be that your Users file is spelled differently, so the application isn't pointing to the right file. In the .ini file again, change the first four lines to this:

-configuration
/Utilisateurs/pdufour/Justinmind/8.5.0/configuration
-data
/Utilisateurs/pdufour/Justinmind/8.5.0

Not working! :(

Can you list the path of the Justinmind folder you created? Can you also take a screenshot of the 'get info' screen for the Justinmind application?

Here it is. Thanks for your help.

Can you list the actual path of the Justinmind folder?

Is this ok?

We're going to ask our dev team about this, and I'll get back to you with a fix. Thanks for your patience.

Can you check if the license file for a trial is in the folder (/Applications/Justinmind/Contents/Resources/Java/license)? It is named “JustinmindPrototyper.lic”. If is there, send it to us. You can also try to create a folder inside that (Applications/Justinmind/Contents/Resources/Java/license) folder and see if you can write in it.

Hello. There is no file named JustinmindPrototyper.lic in the folder License. I can create a new folder, but what am I suppose to write in it?

We have a test to figure out why it's still not working.

First, copy the attached files in “/Applications/Justinmind.app/Contents/MacOS/”. One is a hidden file named “.options” so the best would be to show the hidden files (“CMD + SHIFT + .”) if you're not doing that already. (Using the shortcut again will hide them!)

Then, the rest is done in Terminal.app, so you need to run shortcut CMD + SPACE and type “Terminal” in spotlight.

Once you open Terminal.app, type:

cd /Applications
Then:

open ./Justinmind.app/Contents/MacOS/Justinmind
This will open a new Terminal window with a bunch of text and Justinmind in the background.

We’d like you to attach the text inside this new terminal window, in a TextEdit file, for instance.

Ok, I tried to follow the procedure, but i'm not sure if I do it correctly.

1. The shortcut to show hidden file didn't worked, but in Terminal I did it with the command : defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles YESkillall Finder

2. See screen capture 3.54.41 PM, there is a hidden file showing in another folder, but none in the MacOS/Justinmind folder.

3. Even if there were the file .options, should I copy the file or the text within? Should i copy all the files of the folder?

4. How do I attach the text inside the new terminal window, by pasting it?

Thanks for your help!

Apologies, we meant to attach some files in our last message, but they weren't attached.

Unzip the files we attached and then copy them into “/Applications/Justinmind.app/Contents/MacOS/”

Now open the terminal app and type:

cd /Applications
Then:

open ./Justinmind.app/Contents/MacOS/Justinmind
In the new terminal window that opens there will be some text that you can select and then copy and paste into a TextEdit file and attach here.

Ok, here it is. I am leaving for the weekend and I will be back on wednesday. Thank you!

Okay, we have a few more tests.

First, uninstall Justinmind and then install again from this link: http://d2ld3he4yll0xl.cloudfront.net/tests/Justinmind%208.5.0_test.dmg

Once installed, you need to go to Terminal.app and, as the last time, launch Justinmind from there.

Once you open the Terminal.app, type:

cd /Applications

Then:

open ./Justinmind.app/Contents/MacOS/Justinmind

Like last time, send us the text that is generated. This should provide us with some useful info this time.

Hello, here is the text file. There is nothing different than the date and time. Did I do it correctly?

Thanks

Did you delete the old Justinmind app before you installed the new one from the link in the last message?

photo

yes I did

Thanks for clarifying.

Based on what's included in that text file, we can conclude that this seems to be an operating system problem, as Justinmind is not actually launching. We found an article with some solutions for other Mac users who have had similar problems with applications not launching. Check it out here: https://www.lifewire.com/can-i-fix-application-thats-not-starting-2260192

Just following up - did the solutions described in that article help you launch the application?

photo

Hello, no it did not work for me. I given up on the app. Thanks for trying to fix it with we.
