Resize screen based on template

Answered Carlos 6 years ago

How do I resize, or can I resize a screen after I have chosen a base size for it.

Right now it is 1280 x 1024, but I need some of the screens to possibly be 1280 x 1280 because I am running out of room. Is there a way to resize a screen after I have put in my screen list?

What if I go outside the screen? Will it scroll?

Hi Carlos,

Yes, you can. You can resize the screen by selecting the base page (icon that looks like a monitor) in the outline panel, then look to the properties panel. You'll then see an option to resize the width and height of the page, and the template will expand its width and height as well. If you place an element outside of the screen width, the template will expand when simulating to fit the elements inside the canvas.

Hope this answers your questions.

Hi, I have a similar (or same) problem as the original writer here, Carlos. I've made a JustinMind file that is set to iPhone portrait format (dimensions 375x667), but all the templates are 1024x768. And any new screen I make is also 1024x768 when what I need is 375x667.

Danielle above said that to solve this, " You can resize the screen by selecting the base page (icon that looks like a monitor) in the outline panel, then look to the properties panel. You'll then see an option to resize the width and height of the page..." BUT in my Properties panel, there actually are no options to resize the width and height of the page. Please see the attached screenshot.

Please tell me how I can resize this template - thanks.

(Note: the JustinMind file I'm working on was originally made by exporting from the Sketch app using their JustinMind plugin)

Hi Justin,

Apologies for the late reply! Looks like you've discovered a bug! The page definitely shouldn't be resized to that width. I'm forwarding this to our development team and we'll get on fixing this ASAP.

Hi Justin,

We have a new version of the Sketch plugin that fixes this issue. Download the new plugin here: https://github.com/vconesa/justinmind-sketch

Hi Danielle,

Thanks for letting me know about the new Sketch plugin for exporting to JustinMind. I'll try this out and let you know if I have any questions about the plugin. A few weeks ago I encountered a problem where the JustinMind exported files from Sketch didn't open in the JM app, in about 75% of my attempted exports. Do you happen to know if that problem was identified and fixed with this build of the plugin?

Hi Justin,

We did work to fix an issue with exporting. Is this issue still occurring for you with the new version of the plugin?

Hi Danielle,

Finally getting back to you here. I haven't had a chance yet to work much in JustinMind lately, but I did try the new Sketch-export-to-JustinMind plugin with a Sketch file that previously gave me problems, and the plugin seemed to work this time.

Also, a co-worker of mine who is currently using Sketch and JustinMind tells me that he's hasn't encountered the problem I previously was having (with the previous plugin), and that pretty much every attempted Sketch-to-JustinMind file was opening up in JustinMind. *However* some of the exported files in JustinMind were missing some objects/elements that were in the original Sketch file. And in some cases, the objects that did appear in JustinMind were in different grouping structures than the Sketch file.

So it seems there's definitely been an improvement, though not quite perfect yet.

Thanks for updating me on this!

Hi Justin,

Thanks for the info. If possible, could your co-worker send us the sketch and .vp file so we can try to resolve the issue he has encountered? You could send them to us with the info about the error he's seeing.

HI Danielle,

I talked to my co-worker about sending you his Sketch and .vp file, but unfortunately he's not able to send them because they're files for a client project which is protected by an non-disclosure agreement. Sorry that we can't distribute these files!

But I will see if my coworker has time to email with his verbal description of the problem he encountered. It may not be for a while though, because he's tied up on a deadline right now.

Hi Justin,

Ok, thanks for letting us know. We're always looking to optimize the plugin, so anything he can provide will be helpful.
