Redundant images in HTML export folder - file size VERY large

Solved Victor Conesa 11 years ago

When I export to HTML for sharing (which I need to do internally) I find that there are dozens of redundant image files - images that might have been used early in the wireframes but were subsequently put into masters or deleted entirely, but they are obviously still there somewhere in Justinmind. At one stage my HTML folder size was nearly 500 MB! I took out images I knew were no longer being used and it dropped to 16 MB. So there's a problem here that it's not purging (and is exporting) images that are no longer being used.

I'd like to be able to add my prototype file so you can look at it, but I can't. Email me and I'll send it to you so you can see for yourself. Prototype file size is currently 4.5 MB by the way, and I delete the prototype HTML export folder each time before I create a new export.

Try with this: select File -> Export -> Prototype and select all. Then open the new exported prototype and generate the HTML. That should have cleaned all the images that weren't being used in your prototype.

Hi Victor

Well that was a disappointment! When I exported the prototype, without any dependencies, the file size went from 6 MB to 20 MB. I didn't bother proceeding to export after that.

How hard would it be to add a list of dependent objects within the editor and identify where they are used and which are orphaned? That would at least allow a manual cleanup. Ideally, there should be a function that allows an automatic cleanup of all orphaned objects (not used in any screen, template or master).

That seems to be a bug. It looks like the HTML code generated on each simulation is included in the exported prototype and it shouldn't. We'll try to fix it asap.

definitely a bug. I replaced all the page background PNG files with optimized JPEGs and the exported HTML still had multiple copies of the PNGs in it.

Could you send the prototype to us please? That would help us to trace the error.

Thanks in advance
