Sketch Plugin Issues

Solved Cynthia 6 years ago

Hello,

I am evaluating your software to see if it will work for my team's prototyping process. We currently use Sketch to design our layouts, I've downloaded and installed your plugin to test the functionality, however, I have run into some very significant issues.

1) The app has crashed 7times while trying to learn and work with it. I'm not sure if this is caused by the files being imported from Sketch, but it is a significant pain and not encouraging.

2) When working on the different screens that have been imported many of the text layers are being cut off. I have to manually go in and adjust them to see all of the text. This basically forces me to have to re-design the layouts as they no longer have proper spacing, etc.

Please see attached.

If you're having a problem with the Sketch plugin for Justinmind, make sure you're using the latest version of the plugin, which you can download here.

If you're using the latest version and still have a problem, please let us know, and attach the Sketch file so we can check it out.

Hi Annalisa,

Yes. The following tutorial should help: http://www.justinmind.com/blog/justinmind-svg-vector-files/

Is there a way to link Sketch & Justinmind?

Or for every change I make, I will have to export as SVG from Sketch and then import to Justinmind?

Hi Jui,

The following tutorial explains how to link SVG's to Justinmind.

Hi all,

We are happy to inform you that with our last Justinmind version (7.9) you can now export designs you’ve made in Sketch to Justinmind with a nifty new plug-in. We hope you enjoy this new feature.

Hi Sonia,

Thanks for pointing out the Sketch plug-in! Is it possible there is an error with the zip file? My colleagues and I aren't able to unzip the file. Below is the error I get when I try to unzip the file via Terminal on my Mac. Can you please assist?

End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on the last disk(s) of this archive.

Hi Ramya,

Sometimes the files are unzipped automatically. Can you check out if you have any file with .sketchplugin extension? You should open that file.

Dear Santosh,

Which version of the plug-in are you using? 1.0.0?

I am also having the same problem when I am trying to export layers from Sketch to JustInMind file. This only happens when I uncheck "Export text layers as images"

Hi Rachel,

Thank you so much for that info. Does this happen for all Sketch files when you uncheck "Export text layers as images," or just that one?

Danielle

The process seemed to be running/exporting fine until it hit that specific art-board/mockup in Sketch. Then it failed.

Hi Rachel,

Try downloading the new version of the plugin here: https://github.com/vconesa/justinmind-sketch

If this issue is still occurring after this, please let me know, and if possible, attach the sketch file.

Hi there,

Thanks for reporting this. You mentioned that this happens with multiple Sketch files - are they blank Sketch files, or do they each have some common element within them that could be causing the crash?

Best,

Danielle

They are all working files with simple to complex elements in them. Neither of them are blank.

Dear Didier,

We will have a look into this and let you know something as soon as possible.

Dear Didier,

We are still investigating about your issue. It seems there is something wrong with your computer when trying to compress files to create the .vp file. Which Mac and OS version are you using?

Sorry for the late reply. I have multiple machines running the last macOS Sierra version + some using the latest High Sierra PB. All have the same error message unfortunately.

Is there any update on this issue? I am also experiencing this.

Dear Sal T,

Two weeks ago we launched a new version for our sketch plugin that solves this issue.

You can find the update at this link below:

I am using the latest plugin, and the export keeps failing.'Object out of bounds' or something like that

photo

Dear Tommy,

Can you make sure you are using v.1.0.3 of the plugin? https://github.com/vconesa/justinmind-sketch

Also, if possible can you attach a sample of your sketch file so we can try reproducing your issue. You can attach any file here at the community in a .rar extension.

Yes I am sure I'm using 1.0.3. (Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6)56dfd919fcbb26861c159e74328d429e

I cant compress my file below 6MB. Sorry about that

Could you upload it to a file sharing service such as Dropbox and attach the link here?

Dear Tommy,

You are right. It's a bug. I will transfer this information to our development team so they can take it into account for future updates.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Any workaround suggestions?

photo

Dear Tommy,

We've been analysing your sample and we have detected that there is a component named "Phone Head White" that has a text gap. In case you add a text on it (Overrides Tab / Edit) you will be able to export without any issues.

We have just updated the Sketch plugin to fix this issue. You can find it here: https://github.com/vconesa/justinmind-sketch

Dear Douglas,

Unfortunately, our Sketch integration does not update automatically the changes applied real time at Jim. You will need export/import each time you apply changes.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Hi Sonia,

Thanks heaps for answering.

I am actually talking about the "Override" side bar action (see attached).

I haven't made any changes after importing into JIM

Would you know how to solve this?

Regards,

Douglas

Dear Douglas,

You're right. Unfortunately, it's a limitation of Justinmind. I have transfered this information to our development team so they can take it into account on future updates.

We just published a new version of our plugin for Sketch that should fix this issue. To update, you can either download the plugin from here https://github.com/vconesa/justinmind-sketch or just open Sketch and go to Manage Plugins.

Hi,

Since this thread opened, I'm still having the same issues stated below:

2) When working on the different screens that have been imported many of the text layers are being cut off. I have to manually go in and adjust them to see all of the text. This basically forces me to have to re-design the layouts as they no longer have proper spacing, etc.

Is there a work-around ? Or Is there going to be any update regarding such issues related to sketch import ? Thx

photo
1

Thanks for letting us know about this problem. Unfortunately the only workaround is to manually adjust them, but I'll inform our team about this and we'll work on finding a solution.

photo
1

Thanks Danielle, it's a core feature for teams who works with sketch and relies on another tool to create dynamic prototypes. Hope you can fix that in next release or so.

photo

same problem... almost all vector elements are either cut off, or not exported properly (spacing, stroke weights etc).

also jim does not export the screen size that i'm working on from sketch, so i have to manually adjust all screens and edit the contents for each screen (imagine doing this for 48 screens and hundreds of elements...). sadly this didn't work for me...

tried the latest version of sketch and jim...

Thanks for letting us know about this! What version of Sketch are you using? What version of the Justinmind plugin are you using?

photo
1

Sketch: 53.1

Justinmind: 1.0.8

photo
1

Thanks for the info. If possible, can you attach the Sketch file here so we can identify the reason behind the issue? You'll need to compress it into .zip/.rar format to attach it here.

photo

This happens even if I just open a new Sketch file and draw an empty artboard. I attached a file here that is just an empty artboard where I experience this problem.

photo

It looks like something in the last update of Sketch caused a problem with the plugin. We're going to fix this ASAP. I'll get back to you soon with a fix.
