Prototype iPhone text entry field in wrong location

In Progress Justin Lui 7 years ago

Hi, I'm trying to build a simulated chatbot (for iPhone) and I'm experiencing a weird mis-location of the keyboard text entry field. It's happening even with the example file that Justinmind has provided on their tutorial page:

https://www.justinmind.com/support/how-to-create-and-simulate-a-chat-app-in-your-mobile-prototypes/

(click on "Download the below example here")

When I use this file in its virgin state, and click 'View on device' from the Mac Justinmind app, then look at this app on an iPhone via the iPhone Justinmind app and try to type into the text entry field, the result I get is the text entry field jumping up to the middle of the screen. Up higher from its expected position at the top of the keyboard.

See the attached screenshots.

Please let me know if you have thoughts on what's causing this and how to prevent it. Thanks.

Hi Justin,

It looks like there's an issue with your installation of Justinmind. We suggest you reinstall from a fresh download, which you can do here: justinmind.com/download

Please let me know if reinstalling doesn't fix this issue.

Hi Danielle, thanks for replying so promptly (much appreciated). I downloaded and reinstalled the Mac Justinmind app (ver. 7.8.0) from the link you gave me, and unfortunately the text entry field (bar) is still in the wrong location on iPhone.

Is there another possible solution for this?

When I open the demo file, I do get a warning message saying "This prototype is made with a previous version of Justinmind prototyper..." I also got this message when I opened the file with the previous pre-7.8.0 version of Mac Justinmind, if I recall. (see attached screenshot)

Hi Justin,

So sorry for the late reply! After testing the prototype again I have been able to reproduce the issue - the text bar is jumping during simulation on the View on Device mobile application. I have forwarded this to our development team and we'll work on fixing this.

Danielle

Hi Danielle,

Can you tell me if there's any new updates on this text-bar-jumping issue? The company I work for is planning on showing a JustinMind prototype to our client around May 12, and this prototype is expected to include a mobile keyboard with text entry field. So we'd like to have this bug fixed by then.

Please let me know, thanks,
