Getting the height of a data grid cell.

Known Jeff Goldszer 3 months ago

I do the following:

1) select a elements from the screen.

2) Depress the "+" event in the events panel

3) Select a Trigger.

4) Select an action.

5) Choose Set Value to Element.

6) Select a Element or variable.

7) Depress the Calculated radio button.

8) Select Add expression link

9) Drag and drop a Data Grid Cell to the the circle marked "Click to edit or drag and drop component"

10) Select "height" from the pull down choice field.

Is there a particular trigger needed to access the data grid cell height value? How do you access it?

Kind Regards,

Jeff

Hey Ria,

Thank you for your response. I downloaded "example height value.vp" and ran the simulation with an instance of Firefox browser.

When I use my mouse to click on the button label "Button", the text field located above the button still displays,"Type something here...".

I am running 9.7.2 justinmind and Firefox 97.0(64-bit)

Kind Regards,

Jeff

Hi Jeff, we have found a bug that happens only in some cases and we are already working on it, I would need you to try the following:

On the prototype I sent you, select the button and right click on the event to edit it, edit the expression and drag the cell grid (attached image) back into position. click ok twice to finish building and simulate again.

let me know if this works.

Thanks.

Hey Ria,

Hope you are having a nice day. I downloaded "example height value.vp" and ran the simulation in an instance of a Firefox Browser.

When I used my mouse to click on the button, labeled "Button" the text field above the button displayed "Type something here...". Not "Grid Cell 1's" height in pixels :(

I am using justinmind 9.7.2 and Firefox Browser 97.0(64-Bit)

Hi Jeff, I need you to try what i ask before, once simulated, when it fails, go back to the prototype and modify the event, as mentioned before and simulate again.

Let me know

Thank you.

Hi Jeff, let me know if the solution I gave you to get the cell measurements in your prototype worked for you.

Hey Risa,

The action attached to the "Mouse On Click" trigger set the text field about the button to the Grid Cell Height as show in your png. I did not have to modify it.

When will a fix be made available?

Kind Regards,

Jeff

Hi Jeff, the bug is found when selecting "height " in the expression builder, it is being worked on for the next update.

As a workaround, once the event is done (which due to the bug will be disassociated from the cell), you have to modify the event, open the expression and drag the cell again. In this way there will be no problem, since you don't have to select in the dropdown (it is already assigned so that it obtains the value of "height").

Greetings.

Hey Risa,

Seems like a little much to do every time I load the prototype. I just coded the prototype's actions to use variables that contain heights. The heights are hard coded as defaults for the variables. I also coded the actions that set grid cell heights into variables. The bug causes actions to work as no-operations. That is, moving the grid cell heights into variables, do not change the variables' value.

To test the fix all I need to do is zero out defaults of the height variables.

Kind Regards,

Jeff
