CSV importing images (type file) into Data Master

Answered Victor Conesa 11 years ago

Hi! I am just starting to delve into the more sophisticated aspects of Justinmind PT - and I imported a long list of items into a Data Master. So far, so good - but I cannot seem to find a way to import associated images (in a field labeled as "File") correctly. Can anybody throw me a hint? In the user manual/tutorial I did not find a clue...

Cheers,

Bernhard

Hi,

I can't think of a way to import images using a csv. Maybe there is a trick but I don't know if that would work. The trick is this, first open your prototype. Then simulate and look for the forder called workX in the browser address bar. Open it with the file explorer. Then open the images folder in it. Copy there all the images you want to import and then, in the csv, just write the name and the extension of the files. I think that should work.

Hi Victor,

Thank you - I've been trying this right now, but it seems that this method does not work :(

We've found a way! And it's really easy to do! Just write the entire absolute path in the field in the CSV file and make sure your data master has a field of 'file type'. Then import the CSV and... it works!!

Perfect! This works like a charm, shame I did not try this myself...

Maybe you can add this to the tutorial/docs :)

Cheers!

Sure, will do!

Well it doesn't work anymore! Attempting to import URLs into a File Upload field results in an empty column.

I'm wondering if this is related to the link/embed option (which is only prompted upon manual insertion of an image into the canvas, not use of data functions), so it would seem unlikely. But developers use code that otherwise seems irrelevant, until people notice a conflict.
