Linux Version

Answered Victor Conesa 12 years ago

Your IDE is based on Eclipse and run's with Java. Therefore I'm wondering why you don't have a Linux Version.

Unfortunately Justinmind is not available for Linux. You can use Justinmind with Mac or Windows.

Even though is Java the code has to be tested in all the OS to assure that the program works well in all of them. Cause it's Eclipse based you will know that some of the code is OS-dependant (SWT). That implies we have to test and apply patches to the code so that works well in each platform (for instance, the texts and buttons in Mac don't have the same size as in Windows). Also the Eclipse framework has bugs that depend on the OS. We prefer to focus all our efforts in both Windows and Mac. You can try to run Prototyper in Wine on Linux anyway.

This one is a bit of a killer for us. It takes prototyper from being awesome to just being nice to have. Please consider Linux support in the future so we can use it everywhere we can use Balsamiq mockups.

Have you tried using WINE?

Not yet. I don't have wine running on my system and have limited resources. My luck in the past with wine has been less then pleasant. I always ended up switching over to just use RDP or a virtual machine.

We know about some people using Justinmind on WINE and they say it works fine. But, of course, is not the same as having a version for Linux.
