Alignment of Grouped Elements

Completed Victor Conesa 12 years ago

When I group object sets then determine that I want to right align them, I can't because the 'align' icons are inactive. The only become active if I ungroup my objects.

You want to align the elements inside the group or just the texts?

Here's the scenario. I have a box with text and widget elements in it and have it grouped. I create a table. I want the grouped box/content to be left aligned with the table. I select the grouped box/content and the 'left align' icon is now inactive.

I'm really sorry but I can't get it. So you have a group and a table and you want to align the group to the left of the table, don't you? Then you have to select both the table and the group. If you do that, does the 'left align' icon works?

As soon as I select an item that is grouped (or something that contains dynamic panels such as a group of tabs), the align icons are inactive. This means that I cannot align anything other than singular objects.

You can align groups as a whole but not the elements inside the group

I understand that once the objects are grouped that I cannot perform alignment ... that's typical for any tool. The problem is, sometimes the 'align' icons are active and sometimes they aren't. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to this. For instance, I have a button that is not part of any grouped object. I select this button and then select a rectangle and the align icons are inactive. I create a new button and select the new button and the same rectangle and the icons are active.

Could you send an example to us please? Thanks in advance

I don't understand Carla's comment from 3 years ago, "I understand that once the objects are grouped that I cannot perform alignment ... that's typical for any tool."

It's not typical for any tool except Justinmind, as far as I can tell.

Is there any hope that alignment will be permitted for components within groups?

Sure, eventually. I'll add your request to the bug tracking system

Is there any update on this functionality? I agree with Dave that's it's not typical for many tools. It's super frustrating to not be able to align items that are inside a group. The way it is now, the process requires ungrouping ALL items in the group, re-selecting the objects to align, performing the aligning, re-selecting ALL items, and regrouping. Then if you had that group in any Events, you have to redo all the events that were hooked to that group. That's 5+ extra steps than necessary.

I would appreciate this feature as well!

When will we be able to align elements within a group? This will really speed things up!

Five years, and we're still eager for this feature.

It's been a year since last I commented, so I'm pinging this thread again in the hopes that alignment of child elements of a group can be aligned with one another. Thank you.

under consideration for nearly 2 years.

Idea shared before 6 Years.

Interesting!

I wonder if there any update on this. Because I struggle with the same issue for 2 years. I was expecting to see some update on this.

Please educate me, if this is already in place guys.

Thank You,

Prabha

Unfortunately this has not been implemented. As a workaround, you can ungroup the elements, select all elements that were in the group using the shift key, and then you'll be able to align them. You could then regroup them.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

Not for the current version of Justinmind, but we are planning on implementing this feature in newer versions in the next few months.
