can JustinMind simulate gestures on touch device?

Answered Victor Conesa 12 years ago

I used proto which simulates gestures on iphone. Does JustinMind offer that too?

Now we support Tap, swipe (on scrolling areas) and double-tap. We are in our way to make 'drag' compatible with mobile devices too and the next year there will be some gestures more.

Could you walk me through on how to create a swipe effect? I saw click, right click, mouse over, and etc under "Events", but I didn't see a "swipe". Am I looking at the wrong place?

It's automatically handled when you create a scrolling area. Take a look at this tutorial to know how to create a scrolling area in a prototype http://www.justinmind.com/tutorials/m...

Thanks Victor. I was trying to create an iphone screen with a long list of checkboxes with labels. It seems the scroll bar wouldn't show. It only shows when I insert a tall image in the dynamic panel. Or rich text.

Is it because a list of checkboxes is perceived as several individual small elements, that's why the scrollbar won't show?

Wow, that's weird. Is the list of checkboxes as tall as the image or the rich text you placed before?

there is no image in the scrolling area, only a bunch of checkboxes. and that's when i am having problem making the scroll bar show.

Could you post a screenshot please?

can you point me to the tutorial that describes this as well as drag?

I would like to simulate moving through a set of images by swiping right and left.

If you place a dynamic panel with horizontal scroll you'll get the swipe gesture. We are still fixing the 'on drag' event to make it work with iphone and ipad

I am creating my prototypes on a Windows 8 Tablet, which prompts two questions... First, how do I configure my browser to ignore OS gestures so they are passed to the simulation and, second, will you be supporting stylus gestures on Windows platforms?

You shouldn't need to do anything in your browser, the Justinmind simulation does it for you. Gestures simulation are supported from version 4.6. You can see an example here http://www.justinmind.com/prototyper/...

Thanks Victor. It works great on my iPad, but I can't seem to get it to work on Windows 8 with a touch display. Windows intercepts the gestures and applies them to the browser controls. If I recall a while back I got gestures to work on a browser in Windows 7 by setting some browser options (don't recall what), but haven't been able to do this in Windows 8. Any guidance is appreciated...

Hi Daren,

I'm afraid we haven't tested the gestures in Windows 8 yet. We will have to investigate it.

Hi Victor,

Related to horizontal scrolling for an iPhone app - is there a way to do it so that the scrolling moves from Item 1, to Item 2 and stops, and with another swipe onto Item 3 and stops, etc?

In other words, when I set things up the way the tutorial suggests it's easy for me to "overshoot" my next item when scrolling so that I see half of Item 2 and half of 3 - whereas the iPhone behavior is to scroll over and stop at the next item.

Does that question make sense?

Yes, I think you could simulate that using the on swipe event + set focus on action. Is what we've done with this prototype (see it with an iPad)

Thanks, Victor - that's great. Let me read up on Set Focus and see if I can get it working.

Hi Victor,

I've been messing with this, reading the docs, and I can't get it to work. Here is what I have:

-A Dynamic Panel with Horizontal Scrolling turned on

-WIthin ("under") the Panel, I have 5 images arranged.

-Scrolling between the 5 images works correctly.

I've tried setting up an Event, but...

1-I'm not sure whether I need an Event on the Panel or the individual images.

2-I'm not sure what Condition I need to set. It seems like I need to set something like: if Image 1 is active, on Swipe Left, Set Focus on Image 2; if Image 2 is active, on Swipe Left, Set Focus on Image 3; etc. But I don't know how to write this condition.

Help!

thanks - chris

Would you mind to send the prototype to us please? We will do it for you so you can see how it works

Thanks, Victor. I just sent it. Let me know if you have any questions.
