Prototype is too big on galaxy s2

Solved Victor Conesa 10 years ago

I am trying to test a prototype I've made on a Galaxy S2.

It opens, but the app is bigger than the screen - and I can't find a way to fit it.

The prototype was built for 480x800 (like s2) and I tested in both chrome and dolphin in full screen mode.

What can I do to make the prototype fill the page?

Thank you,

Liza

Hi Liza,

Galaxy S2 is 480x800 of screen resolution, but they use a 1.5 CSS pixel ratio. If you want to fit perfectly, you have to setup the resolution to 320*533 and you will see perfect if you use full screen resolution.

Once you have finished your prototype, save it, create a new prototype, select the new resolution and choose the option "another prototype file". By this way, you will have all the events and you will only to fit the objects to the new canvas size.

I hope it helps you. Best regards

Hi Albert,

Thank you for your response.

This solution seems very inconvenient.

My project is rather large - re-positioning everything is not so simple.

Also, I might want to demonstrate the project on additional devices - are you implying that I'm going to have to repeat this for every device?

Isn't there a way to change the pixel ratio in the html source files to make the UI scale to fit the screen?

Best regards,

Liza

Hi Liza,

each device has a different screen resolution and a different pixel ratio (visit this link to find all screen and pixel ratio http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_...). The newest devices have the same screen resolution (1920x1080) and the same pixel density (x3).

I will consult to the development team if it's possible an easy workaround for the oldest devices.

Version 5.6 includes an option in Simulation Settings to scale your prototype

Just my 2 cents, but I think this is very important to understand. I was confused about this topic until I saw Albert's explanation. You might consider making this fact more obvious because it can be pretty frustrating to try and get a prototype to work otherwise if you're picking a device and put in a custom dimension only to have it render HUGE without knowing why.

Just experienced the same problem. I will be trialling my demo on various devices. Would it make sense that the mobile phone app had the simulation scale setting built in, unique to the device. Or perhaps a separate scale simulation setting for iphone/android versions.

Not a bad idea, I'll pass it through to our development team.

This is the only reason i'm looking at other prototyping softwares. I use Justinmind but it's not professional to send a prototype to a team of people who review it on their device and it looks too small or big for their screen.

We are working on it. Stay tunned ;)
