Sketch symbols

Solved Joey Lane 5 years ago

Hello,

Our team uses Sketch and we are exploring prototyping tools that offer integration with Sketch. Within Sketch, we use libraries where our elements are tied to library symbols. When I export my Sketch file using the JIM plugin, all elements linked/attached to symbols do not appear. I have found that by unlinking/detaching all the symbols the files will appear, but this is not manageable given the size of our projects and workflow process.

Is there a workaround/solution to this symbol issue you are aware of?

Hi Joey,

What version of Sketch, and what version of the Sketch Justinmind plugin are you using?

Also, if possible, can you attach the Sketch file?

Best,

Danielle

Hi Danielle,

I'm using sketch 50 and JIM 8.4.3, attached is my sketch file.

Sorry file is too large to attach, I uploaded it to box. Thanks!

Hi Joey,

Thanks for attaching the file. We're working on fixing this right now.

In the mean time, your best option is either to correct the issues in Justinmind, or to reduce the usage/complexity of the symbols to make them really work inside Sketch. If you detach a symbol in there and it doesn't work as expected, it won’t export correctly as a .vp either.

Best,

Danielle
