SItemap Improvement Suggestion

Under Consideration James Brooks 6 years ago

The Sitemap is a really cool idea. Unfortunately it is utterly useless as it misinterprets my cross linking and creates a giant pile of gobbledegook.

How about adding an "Edit" mode where I can drag-and-drop whatever I want, wherever I want? Let me turn off the auto-linking and just give me a bunch of rectangles and connectors and let me make it myself.

Give me a few more labeling and formatting tools and allow me to export to a few more formats (PDF, .ai, and .xml being obvious choices) and THEN you would really have something useful there!

As it is I simply cannot use it for anything. I have a subnav in my prototype that is making it do crazy things and it doesn't represent the site architecture accurately at all.

Hi James,

Thank you for your suggestion. I think you may find scenarios useful, as they allow you create your own labeling and connections between elements.

Danielle

Thanks for the suggestion. Scenarios are useful and can come in handy at times... but they are not SiteMaps.

The problem is not with Scenarios... it's with the fact that the SiteMap tool displays the Site Architecture incorrectly and gives no way to edit or fix the problem.

Hi James,

I understand - I'll forward your notes to our development team.

Danielle - this would be very useful if making use of dynamic panels. For example if using dynamic panels for things like tabs, would still be useful to display the tabs as items in a sitemap.
