I want to be able to group widgets (which I know it's possible) and assign it an event to treat the whole group as a component (e.g. On drag, move the group with cursor).
Yeah, figured that out, reason why I was opening the question to the wider community.
I managed to group widgets by creating dynamic panels. This allows me to apply events directly, and also reference internal components from another event.
Works out ok, just a different approach.

I really miss this functionality, as I very often have an icon as well as text. Would be nice if a group could act as a hotspot and could also be selected f.e. for show events.

Unfortunately you can only apply events to individual widgets, not groups of widgets.
