Combining the records of multiple Data Masters into one simulation after check-box selection

Answered Tatiana A. G. 7 years ago

Dear Helping Team,

I have spent a few days on this issue, but could not find a solution in the tutorials.

What I need is the following:

1) To select one or more items from a list - at best using check boxes. Each item is associated to a Data Master containing the same fields, but different record values.

2) After selection of the items, to click on a button ("Compare") that will take me to a new screen, containing an "empty" Data Master/List (showing the same fields as the Data Masters of the individual items) that will be "modified", i.e., filled with the records from the Data Masters of each selected item.

So this would be like a simulation, allowing the combination of records from different Data Masters in one Data List or table, according to the items selected at the beginning.

I hope this was understandable. Thank you very much in advance!

Best regards,

Tatiana A. G.

PS: I've been testing the JIM trial version for my office for two weeks now - we find it awesome and believe it could be a great alternative to present results to our customers! So far, with help of the tutorials and the community support, I've been able to find answers to all our doubts. Now this one will be decisive to our purchasing a few user licenses or not...

Hi Tatiana,

First, you should take into account that only one data master will be needed as it's is not possible to include data from different data masters in one data list. Said that, you will need to include all the information from your data list in just one single data master.

Also, if you need to differentiate between records from the data master you should add a new field at the data master and after you will need to create a filter using this new field to show the desired rows.

Dear Sonia,

thank you very much! In the meantime I happened to come to that conclusion - that a single Data Master would be necessary - and I am now working on selecting items from a list (which worked by using a Check List widget) and showing the Data Master rows related to it.

Could you recommend a tutorial regarding the second part of the problem? That is, the "add a new field at the data master and after you will need to create a filter using this new field to show the desired rows" part?

Thank you once again!

Best regards,

Tatiana

Hi Tatiana,

You're welcome :) The following tutorial should help to get some ideas:
