Pressing ANY key makes my hidden widget to show.

Solved

This doesn't happen with every widget every time. But it has happened with rectangles, data grids, dynamic panels, etc... many times.

This happens in different browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox) and with Mac and Windows.

You can take a look at the file here:

This is quite nerving and has happened to several files now. Is this somehow my fault or is this a bug?

Cheers,

André

Hi Andre,

I have seen your project and I will need some extra time to see what's happening. It's seems to be done correctly, but something is going wrong. I will contact with you again as soon as possible.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi Albert,

thanks for the reply.

I just got the same behaviour in a "Input" field. I imported the widget from another Prototype, and the problem persists.

I updated the file to include the faulty "Input Field".

I believe that being hidden is not the cause, but rather that the widget has an "Event" to it....

Please give me a heads up when you learn more.

Cheers,

André

Hi Andre,

I have tested it again and I found a bug with the key down, but exists an easy workaround. Just copy the full event to an "on change" event and delete the key down event. We will try to fix for the next update.

Best regards.

Hi Albert,

not only key down, but also key up. I am not all too happy, since this kills the "Instant Search" behaviour. Any events using key up/down are not reliable anymore (jump to next field when "X" characters have been typed, add "/" after two characters to show a "date format" (07/02/2014), change style with the user types a wrong character, and so on...

I will just have to change the project. I cannot have windows popping up everywhere and also fields disappearing without reason when I send my project to my clients for evaluation.

Can you confirm that if the mockup is made in a Windows machine the bug will still happen? Or is this not system agnostic?

Is there a release in the foreseeable feature coming?

BR,

André

PS.: IMHO you should start checking all the bugs off your list before you start developing new features. I know that bugs happen, but where I work we commit ourselves to get our software working first and foremost. There is a huge value when "things just work". Much more value than a feature list. Just my 2 cents.
