Performing a search on mobile app

Hi, I have a problem with the text input control (used to as a search field) and the search bar, both for a mobile proto (iphone 5) i'm working on.

What I'd like to achieve is that the user tap on the field (either text input or search bar), it opens the touch keyboard, he inserts a query and then when he tap return the app load a new page with the results of the search, is that possible?

I can't figure it out.

I started thinking about using the on keyup but it doesn't work with the mobile keyword, so do you have any suggestion?

Hi,

If I had time I would write process step by step.

Read tutorials on performing search on data grid and data masters http://www.justinmind.com/support/?s=...

it is very easy just focus on videos and descriptions.

If still can`t figure it out let me know in this subject

Hi, thanks for your reply, but the video is showing a search with a desktop based application and I have a mobile app, do you have a video example with a search box for the mobile?

Try with 'key pressed' or 'key down'

I already tried and the key pressed and key down events seem to work with the phisical keyboard of my mac and I don't know how to attach them to the iPhone keyboard of my prototype.

Do you have any hints?

I don`t understand why not "On Focus Out" ?

When pressing RETURN key on keypad on iPhone it focuses out of the search input. This way you can set value of the variable which will filter results on next page and at a time redirect to that page. Two actions on pressing RETURN key.

Marcin suggestion seems interesting, just one question: how do you set that it should work only for the RETURN key on iPhone keypad?

Thanks

It was rather to Victor. If there is no tutorial for this he should explain as he is employee for JIM. Or try finding solution at least.

Fabio I`ll check it and get back with answers. I did complex iPhone app prototype with JIM and all I can say is that for apps it is constant manouvering between program`s options and possibilities. Some things took me quite a lot of time to figure out.

Ok so basically when you put a search widget it focuses out on either pressing return key only or pressing somewhere outside keypad. I did that functionality in 2 minutes. User taps on the search field, it focuses in, user inputs search query. When pressed RETURN or tap outside keypad it redirects to search results page where results from data master are filtered basing on what user input in the previous screen in the search box. Works. PS. If that`s what you mean by your first post.

Cheers

Fabio, could you send your prototype to jim.support at justinmind.com or at least a smaller version of what you're trying to do? The key pressed events should work.
