Other panels are not visible during fade or if top panel is partially transparent

Solved

I attempted to fade from panel to panel in a dynamic panel. Result: the current panel hides and the new panel fades in. Desired effect: New panel fades in (e.g left to right) replacing current panel.

I also attempted to put useful data in different panels that are visible due to transparency of the front-most panel. I wanted to be able to click a button and have a panel come to the top.

You can't use the effects to simulate 'transitions' between the panels of a dynamic panel. To do what you want you need to use something different than a dynamic panel (you can use several dynamic panels or several groups) and then manage which is the one that is visible.

I understand. The transparency function gave me an idea. I'd like to have three layers of data visible (due to panel transparency) but give the user control over which panel (data) is on the top and graphically editable. This would require an on click event that bring a panel to the front or sends it to the back. Is this available? This is separate from having the user change the size of an object.

You can try to use the 'insert into' to do so. You could create three different dynamic panels and then, execute 'inser intos' for each of the three panels so that they go to the desired 'dynamic panel'
