Linking doesn't work on certain components.

The linking feature does not seem to work consistently. I'm trying to link a list panel item to a screen and the drag n drop doesn't work. Also the right-click menu is missing the link options. Same issue with a "Back" button I'm using.

However it is working for other components on other pages, such as images or button widgets.

Are you using List Box widget?

You have to add some conditions if you want to link a particular string in the list box to a screen. Look at the screen shot below.

If you right click on a widget, a pop-up menu should show up. Most, if not all, the widgets have Add Link option.

If you want, I can take a look at your .vp file to see why Add Link option is not showing up when you right click on your particular widget. Please send a request to jim.support@justinmind.com

Hi John. This is what I discovered... See the attached screenshot for reference.

If I try to drag the "Day 4: Fajitas..." list item in the prototype window over to the "Edit Recipe" screen name in the screens list, my cursor changes to a + sign and does not create the link.

However, if I do it the other direction (drag the screen name item from the screens list to the "Day 4" item on the prototype window), it creates the link.

Also when I right-click on the "Day 4" item (or any of them for that matter), the menu does not contain the linking options. 4a510ce3526880ab680035dfabf91aa9

Now just as I was taking this screenshot, I adjusted the menu item by accident (just clicked on it and dragged it a couple pixels) and now the linking options are working just for that item, the others still don't work. Hmmm...

I installed this yesterday for the first time and used it for about 5 hours straight. All in all I love the product, I think it's fantastic and super-easy to use. I may even upgrade to the pay version. However, it's very buggy, especially regarding the mouse and cursor behavior. Clean up those bugs and this product will be unbeatable. :-)

P.S. I'm using a MacBook Air with Mac OS X 10.7.5.

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for the very detailed explanation.

Did you group the "Day 1" to "Day 7" components together? You should ungroup them first, add the links, and then group them. You cannot add a link to a Group unfortunately.

You can however do what you said. "drag the screen name item from the screens list to the "Day 4" item on the prototype window".

Now for this:

"Now just as I was taking this screenshot, I adjusted the menu item by accident (just clicked on it and dragged it a couple pixels) and now the linking options are working just for that item, the others still don't work."

You accidentally selected that particular item within the Grouped components. Now this item act like an independent widget (although it is still within the Group) and so you can add link to this item by drag and drop. Also, the Add Link option on the pop-up shows up when you right click.

I don't think this is a bug but a feature limitation. Good observation though!
