Is there a way to implement Dynamic Tooltips?

Is there a way to have a tooltip dynamically reference the data within the element it relates to?

I'm using a data grid and certain values within the grid will not fit in the avialable space. I would like to put a tooltip on each column to display the full value of the text within the cell.

Is there a fomula one can use in the tooltip area to reference a value (the same way "value" references the data element within the column text)?

I was able to get this done using dynamic panels and set value actions, but am forced to keep the panel to the side of the grid, as it overlaps with the items within the grid, blocking mouse-over functionality.

Any other ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The dynamic panels are not a bad solution. Just set them as hidden and then add an event in the data grid to show it when the mouse enters in some row.
