I can't seem to figure out how to filter a data grid with a multi-select check list

I'd like to filter a data grid with a multi-select check list, so that the grid displays a combination of records that match a combination of criteria. Is this possible?

Thanks very much in advance.

Thanks Albert. The tutorial to which you've pointed shows how to filter by one criterion at a time in the same column. What I'm looking to do is return a combination of results.

For example, if I select the criteria A, B & C from the SAME drop menu (where A, B & C are 3 distinct names from the same table column, the data grid would display all results matching A, all results matching B AND all results matching C. I'd like to have a multi-select dropdown filter for the table columns.

Hope that makes sense.

What widget(s) do you want to use? Multi-select, check list, select list or custom select list widget? You mentioned different widgets. I'm not sure which one (or some combination of widgets) you really want.

Thanks John & Albert.

Albert, the example you've provided is filtering across multiple attributes. I want to aggregate my filter results by filtering for various values of the same attribute.

For example, let's say my data master includes records with the Last Name attribute Jones, Smith, and Van der Plaat. In my data grid, I filter for Jones AND Smith so that records with those Last Name attributes are shown, while records with the Last Name attribute Van der Plaat or anything else are not shown.

I hope that was clear.

Thanks again.

Currently the data grid only filters one attribute at a time. If you, say, click the Jones AND Smith checkboxes, nothing will show up. I can't find an easy solution for this problem.

However, I will try to find a workaround and if I can't find any, we will treat this as a feature suggestion.

I just bumped in a project that I need exactly this.

I want to be able to see all the lines with "FATAL" and with "WARNING". As said by John, checking both return me no results... =/

This would be a neat feature to have!

Thanks!

Hi Andre,

your case is very similar to this example: http://www.justinmind.com/usernote/te... , but you are using a checkbox list instead of a radio button list.

In your prototype, instead of building the expression as "filter data master, statuts attribute has selected item", you have to change the order of the second part, as you can see on the following image.

I hope it helps you.

Hey Albert,

awesome answer! Thank you very much! Silly of me for not coming up with the resolution alone!

One thing happens when I filter my results, my icons vanish after filtering the table. (Please see attached my screenshot. Its an Event, which is attached to my 2nd Row of the data grid). All the icons are set to invisible, and when a certain Attribute in the row comes up, one icon is then set to visible.

The problem, I guess, is that the Event is set to happen on Page Load, but I have no idea how I could set it otherwise.. Any ideas?

Thanks a million!

Hi Andre,

if you include the images into the datamaster, they won't disappear after the click event.

Take a look to this tutorial. http://www.justinmind.com/usernote/te...
