How do I "show" a "group?"

I'm trying to add an on-click event to a button so that when the button is clicked, a sub-menu appears (like an overlay). The sub-menu was created as a "group" -- just a list of text items within a rectangular shape. When I program the event I can get the group to HIDE but not SHOW. What am I missing?!

Thanks.

I don't understand what you mean by ' I can get the group to HIDE but not SHOW', could you detail step by step how are you trying to make that event please?

If I add an on-click event to the "Action" button, I can make the sub-menu "hide" but not "show." I feel like maybe I'm just not placing the menu in the right place inititially? Where should it be "selected from," does it need to be on a different screen? I've gone through all the steps in your help section that outline how to add a hide/show event.

What I'd do in your case is select the group, then go to the properties panel and mark it as 'hidden'. Then create just one onclick event on the 'actions' drop down that executes a 'hide/show' action on that group.

Thank you, that totally worked!

Hi again - I'm hoping this will come to you even though the question is marked as "answered." What we'd like to also do in our scenario with clicking the "Actions" button is have the sub-menu appear (this is what we got to work) and then disappear again on a second click. We've tried adding actions to the event so they're in a series but it doesn't work. Thanks for the help.

You need to use a variable to control when the menu is displayed and when it isn't and then create conditions in your onclick event so when the variable says the menu is being shown then it hides it and sets the variable as menu hidden. Then create another onclick event with the condition the other way around.

Unfortunately for someone with very little background in programming syntax, variables & conditions don't mean much to me. I looked at the tutorials and the menus for creating them and I have no idea how to write the expresssions / conditions with what's offered.

If there's any way you can write up a step by step, just to get us started, that would be great: the scenario is just clicking to show the menu and then clicking again to hide it, and being able to do this a few times back & forth. Otherwise we'll just try to experiment & figure it out when we have time. Thanks.

You can read this discussion thread https://www.justinmind.com/community... it's a similar case than the one you want to simulate.

Hi Victor - we've studied both the other thread you provided and the video tutorial, and we're still stuck. What other help can we get?

You can send your prototype to jim.support at justinmind.com and detail what you want to do so and we'll try to do it for you.
