hide/show panel with effect isn't working for me, just says 'the selected item is not valid'

SO difficult to do something which should be so basic.

I'm trying to show effects going from one mobile screen to another. I've set up dynamic panels, as instructed. selected one item in panel 1 to show panel 2 with an effect (slide) and I get 'the selected item is not valid. I don't know why. Your tutorials & user guide on this are too basic and I've searched support questions with no use. Have wasted my morning on trying to get transition effects into a mobile prototype.

Seems basic to have transitions available on changing screens for mobile, if that's in a future release great but doesn't help me with this project.

We are sorry to hear that. The thing is we've recently changed some event actions regarding panels. From version 4.6.0 there's a new action called 'Set Active Panel' which acts like the old 'Show/Hide' for panels. This change was mainly made for conceptual purposes and for users to find it easier. I hope that's what you were looking for.

I tried 'set active panel' and get the same system response - "selected item not valid"

Let me explain what I'm doing and maybe you can see if there's something I'm doing wrong: I have 2 panels within a dynamic panel. In the default panel, I have several items in a 'tab bar' (they're images, though I've tried it with image maps also and it doesn't work either). I select one of those items and create an 'on click' event. On click, activate panel 2. With or without an effect, I get same error, above.

any ideas?

well when all else fails, rebuild. I just rebuilt the whole screen and dynamic panels and now it works. This seems to happen a lot in JIM, things are kind of glitchy, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. maybe its just me.

The active panel vs. hide/show should be updated and explained in your online documentation.

Thanks for your response, though JIM has a lack of comprehensive user documentation, your online support is good. Thanx

I still don't understand why this error was shown with the 'set active panel' action. I've not been able to reproduce it. However, if it happens again try selecting the target panel through the outline panel provided next to the canvas when defining the 'set active panel' action. Then you make sure that what you select is actually a panel and nothing else.

I agree we must have documentated all this better and I'm sorry about this. We will work on it. Thanks
