how do I filter by an attribute? in other words, what I am trying to do is on one page click on an attribute and have the next page just list the items that have that attribute?

Take a look at the tutorial about how to use the filter function to simulate searches on data grids: http://www.justinmind.com/prototyper/...

thank you Victor for the reply! I've tried the tutorial but it doesn't seem to apply to what I am trying to do. For example, lets say I have a data master filed with people's names, address, age, and mood. what I would like to do is list the type of moods on one page( such as Happy, Sad, thrilled) for the user to click on and on the next page it will only show him/her the list of the people who are sad or happy or thrilled depending on the mood he/she chose? is that something that we can do with justinmind?

Sure. You can just list the type of moods in a page and then create an on click event that stores the selected mood in a variable. Then, in the other page, you can have a data grid filtered by the value coming in the variable.

thanks Victor! is there any tutorial that shows how to do that? how to store into a variable and filter by the value coming from that ?!

You can watch this one to know more about Variables:

Then you just need to create a filter http://www.justinmind.com/prototyper/... that executes when the page loads.

I just tried the variable tutorial and I followed the steps exactly..but for some reason the variable stores the last mood on the list when the page unload rather than the mood that I click on? am I missing something?

You have to set the value of the variable using an on click event, not an on page unload one. The tutorial use the on page unload one.

my bad Victor, I meant to post a reply letting you know that I figured this part out. however, I am not having problems with the filtering. I follow the direction on the tutorial. I chose the table and then I put in the filtering option. however, it does not work. might you have any idea why? I realize that there might be a lot of things. however this is the last thing I need to do to finish this project that is due tomorrow. any help will be appreciated. thank you

I kinda figured it out. I figured out why the tutorial wasn't working for me. I wasn't using a datagrid. However, I dont wanna use a datagrid because the layout is not what I have or want. my layout basically consist of me dragging and dropping my data master attributes onto a panel. So, they are not grouped in one data grid. So with that said, is there anyway to filter data that is not within a grid?

No. The only thing that can be filtered so far is the data grid.

Anyway you can customize data grids in any way you want: http://www.justinmind.com/usernote/te...
