Duplicating Screens - Save layer name

When duplicating a screen the layer names don't duplicate, they just revert back to 'Image' and 'Dynamic Panel'.

It would be so so useful if they duplicated too as some of the more object heavy screens it becomes quite a challenge to work our what's what!

In fact I'm suffering the same problem not only for screen but simply duplicating panels in the same screens. The duplicated one don't duplicate names but uses the generic ones (Dynamic Panel and Panel).

That becoms a nightmare when your are dealing with many DP objects on same screen. (I'm working on a Single Page App Proto)

Ok my colleague showed me a way to sort of work it out but not as simply as 'Duplicate Screen'

If you select the layers and group them 'Ctrl-G' then you can copy and paste that between screens and within one screen and it will save the names of the layers within that group!

Obviously it would be great to see it easy as duplicate screen but for the mean time this method can work

I use a similar technique. I add the elements to widgets so I preserve the names for all the times I use such widget. In the case of widgets JIMP respects the name for the new instances and only applies a sufix to them with an incremental number in order to avoid duplication.

I have tried to work out a good way to preserve layer names - and copying the elements into a new screen does that to some degree, but my major frustration with this is that even when you copy an element rather than duplicate a screen, you lose all of the events associated with the elements and have to rebuild them every time!! There has to be a better way to re-use content than this.

Hi everyone,

About the copying elements with the events asociated: you can copy the events asociated to one item and paste them to another item if both are in the same screen.

Best regards,
