Data master descriptor missing (prototyper pro mac v.4.6)

Hi,

I'm using Prototyper Pro v.4.6 on a mac (Lion)

I press the (+) button to create a new Data Master, but the pane for Data Master Descriptor is missing. It doesn't look like the user guide photos. Is this a bug?

I want to select only 1 attribute of the descriptor (use it to establish a Data Master as the data source of a drop-down item on the screen).

Hi Eddie,

We removed the descriptor as it was misleading. The same data master may be used in various components but using different fields. With the descriptor we imposed the same fields for all use cases. The user guide photos must have been forgotten to update.

You can still use a dropdown component and populate its values from a data master:

Hi Burk,

Thanks for the reply. I've tried this and I can get the 'Data Master Field' to work like this, but the drop down list is always empty. When I go to edit the data master, it overwrites all of my data and I can't change the value in the category field. I need the items in the category field to have a name, but I can't edit the name and so the drop down list is empty.

Thanks for any help!

Hi Eddie,

Before you edit the data master's records (your screenshot), you need to add values to the category field:

Hi Burk,

Thank you for explaining this. I think if you can update the online tutorial videos and user guide with this information then other users would really appreciate it.

Best regards,

Eddie

Hi Eddie,

I agree. It's just a question of time ...
