Creating an 'are you sure' dialog on button click.

How do I get a click event to open a dynamic panel on top of current screen?

I have the usual 'Cancel' and 'OK' buttons on a screen, and on click I'd like by panel to open with the usual 'are you sure?' dialog. I've created the panel, but have found no way to simply 'show' it--it doesn't show up in the outline/navigator, and is not selectable when I choose Show/Hide in the Interactions page. I can get the button click to open a new page with just the dialog box on it, but not open it up over top of the screen I'm working on. What do I do?

Thanks for getting back. I believe I followed the instructions for the first tutorial, but when I Simulate there is no dynamic panel to move--it only appears in edit mode.

Hi Kirk,

could you send me your prototype? I will take a look to it and I will explain what's missing.

Thanks

Thanks for the help--very much appreciated.

I'm unable to tell how the buttons are connected to the dynamic panel--by 'connected' I mean I can't find a way to get them to share the behavior of the panel itself. If I simply drag a button onto the panel, the button is still independent of the panel, and always appears on the screen. I've tried Group and Group in Dynamic Panels--neither is the right answer, clearly.

What's the solution?

Hi Kirk,

did you receive my email with your prototype?

Yes, and I was able to get the dynamic panel itself to work as needed. However, I don't see how to get the buttons to hide/show with the panel. In your edited prototype, I selected one of your buttons, then looked at Properties and Events, but saw nothing there that tells me how the button is related to the panel--that is, I cannot find any property of the button for example that explains why it hides/shows when the panel itself hides/shows. Hope that makes sense.

Okay, I got it. Panel appeared to be selected to me but in fact I wasn't in Edit Content mode when I dragged and dropped my buttons. There's a 90 minute lesson-learned!

Great Kirk! May I miss to explain how to insert elements to a dynamic panel. Sorry.
