Category field as a Input Box in a readonly list

Hello,

I have a data grid bound to a data master one of the fields on the data master is a category and is rendered on the form as a select list. On a grid this displays as disabled select list which looks a bit odd. What I would like to do is replace this with a control that does not show the dropdown button (perhaps a label or read only input box) is this possible?

Thanks

Paul

There are two ways to do that. One is to place a rectangle over the 'arrow' icon so it looks just like a label. The other one is to place a label, then in the label create an onpageload event with a set value action on the label. Then, as the calculated value, create this expression select(row, [data master field for the category])

Hi Thanks for the response.

I haven't had much luck with the suggestions.

The first to place a rectangle over the arrow I could place a rectangle of the arrow.

The second is where do I find an entry for 'row' in the select expression if I enter row the builder complains the highlighted expression is text Replace it for another having a list result.

Thanks

You have to drag the 'row' from the data grid to the expression. Writing 'row' won't work. So place your mouse cursor to the left side of the row in the data grid until the cursor turns into an arrow. Then click and drag it to the place in the expression. Take a look at this video tutorial http://www.justinmind.com/prototyper/... (second 56)

Hi,

I did that and achieved an interesting effect but not quite the one I was looking for the field had all of the entries for the data master concatenated. I can send a screen shot if needed?
