Can't update or publish from within Justinmind

Solved

My company uses website filtering software that prevents me from accessing some sites, and it looks like the Justinmind update servers and the Usernote publishing servers are part of that. Can you tell me what URLs/IP Addresses I need to tell them to whitelist, in order that I can use the "Check for Updates" and "Publish Online" functions from within the app?

You can tell them to whitelist any URL starting with https://www.justinmind.com. Or you can configure the proxy settings in your Prototyper using the option File -> Preferences -> Network configuration

For proxy settings, what port(s) are you listening on? I've put in the proxy settings, but it still isn't working. Those URLs are already whitelisted.

What proxy server are you using?

Ironport. I talked to the server admin today, and he said the typical ports for http and https are 80, 8080, and 443, so I tried each of those, but they didn't work.

When you say 'i tried each of those' you mean you configured the proxy server or just your computer?

Those ports are all open in Ironport, I configured the proxy settings in Justinmind to attempt to use each of them:

Just to check. What version of Justinmind Prototyper are you using?

4.6.1, but I have tried the exact same thing on 4.5.0 and it didn't work there, either.

I'll contact to our network experts and I'll tell you something. Meanwhile you can sing in to your Usernote account using the web interface and upload your prototypes from there https://www.justinmind.com/usernote/t...

Let's try this. If the URLs are already whitelisted then that should be enough. So go to Preferences -> Network in Prototyper and change the Active Provider from Manual to direct. Then restart Prototyper and try to Publish online.

That is the default setting, and what it was set to when I opened this ticket. I only changed it after your suggestion that it may be a proxy issue. So that doesn't work, either.

But, were the URLs www.justinmind.com whitelisted then?

Yes, but just to make sure, I tried it again just now with the network connection set to direct. It still didn't work.

Hi Josh,

Can you try something for me please? Can you open a command console and execute this?

ping www.justinmind.com

And post a screenshot of the results?

It looks like your proxy doesn't let Justinmind Prototyper to connect to our domain for some reason we don't know. I'm afraid we can't fix it for you. It's something you will need to talk to the administrator of your network.

I've talked to our network guys, and confirmed that there is no issue with traffic going to http://www.justinmind.com (or https). I can ping the site, and access it with a three different web browsers. It really doesn't seem like an issue with accessing justinmind.com. I agree it looks like a proxy issue, but I would suggest that either the update server and usernote server are not at justinmind.com, or they go there initially, but traffic gets redirected to another IP or URL that our proxy is blocking.
